EXMOUTH are the new leaders of the D Division East thanks to a 114-run win over Chardstock.
Luke Davies (58) and Ryan Schauffler (87no) were the prime run getters in a total of 251 for eight.
Former Dorset captain Stuart Rintoul, in a rare appearance, opened up with 29.
The Chardstock chase veered from 40 for none to 69 for four and deteriorated further to 87 for six. Lawrence Greenway (4-22) largely responsible.
Alex Watson (32) delayed the inevitable for a while, but Ollie Dawe (3-37) sorted him out and the last four wickets went for 10 runs in a total of 137 all out.
HEATHCOAT’Ssecond defeat in the last three outings has cost them the leadership of the D Division East.
While new leaders Exmouth were defeating Chardstock by 114 runs, Heathcoat were losing to visiting Upottery by six wickets.
Simon Sobczak hit 64 and Matt Hague 47 in Heathcoat’s 227 all out. Shane Kennard (4-61) and Andrew Pullman (3-36) were the leading Upittery bowlers.
Jack Larcombe led the Upottery run chase with an unbeaten 77. Skipper Mark Joyce chipped in an unbeaten 57.
COUNTESS Wear defeated Uplyme by 52 runs to move out of the D Division bottom three.
The Wear totalled 204 for nine in their 45 overs thanks to a consistent effort from the batters.
Five players made it into the 20s or beyond the best of them Mark Davey (33), H S Liyanage (2) and Kav Diaz (23).
Sam Wooster (4-28) was Upottery’s most successful bowler.
Uplyme hit early trouble against Dias (2-9) and were glad of runs from Bruce Maltby (22) and Steve Batey (33) for getting to 92 for six.
Davey (2-26) got into the middle order then Nathan Bright (3-26) started prising out the bottom half.
Charlie Moss (26) resisted for a while before Uplyme were all out on 152.
CLYST St George dropped behind Countess Wear into the relegation spots when North Devon II defeated them by three wickets.
Saints got as far as 192 for nine in 45 overs – Chris Ferro (26) and Jayak Nallala (51) making early runs before Matt Dart (3-38) slowed them up.
Adam Ykhelf, who made 39 off 37 balls, put his toe down in the last 10 overs as Saints added 88.
North Devon’s chase was in a spot of bother at 50 for four when Jay Rothery joined skipper Richard Screech out in the middle. Their stand of 84 swung the game.
Screech went for 38 – one of three scalps for Harry Attwater (3-47) – but Rothery carried on to make an unbeaten 92.
SANDFORD were on the sharp end of a nine-wicket defeat at Barnstaple & Pilton that leaves them one off the bottom of the D Division East.
Charles Fitzroy went in when Sandford were 18 for one and hit a top score of 62 in Sandford’s all-out total of 164. Jim Shepherd chipped in with 22 and shared a stand 47 with Fitzroy.
Brady Saunders dispatched Fitzroy with a return catch and went on to take five for 33 as the lower order crumbled.
Saunders opened up after tea for B&P and carried his bat for an unbeaten 77.
Saunders – 11 fours and three sixes – shared an unbroken stand of 149 with Jack Moore (6) that won the game with more than five overs to go.
