Run machine - Liam Lewis

LIAM Lewis and Peter Randerson both hit half-centuries in Heathcoat’s 29-run win over Exmouth that installed them as new Premier Division leaders.

Lewis (69) shared stands of 71 with Reid Mawdsley (27) and 78 with Jack Dart (46) to reach 153 for three.

Dart went soon afterwards, leaving Randerson (60) to lead the way as Heathcoat rattled along to 262 for six.

Exmouth got to 197 for five in reply with 10 overs to go – Miles Lenygon (45), and Sandy Allen (36) in the runs - and had Dan Pyle remained they might just have got over the line.

Pyle (68) was spun out by Jack Menheneott (3-58) and after he went there was a slow decline to123 all out.

“It was a great, all-round team performance,” said satisfied skipper Randerson.

“Exmouth are a good side and it was nice to get the win.”

Heathcoat are only a point clear of Sidmouth at the top of the table so there is little or no room for error at Hatherleigh this Saturday.
