AT last! Devon Under-14s recorded their first victory of the ECB championship campaign when they beat Hampshire.

Hants opted to bat first on a good track at Lymington CC. Fine bowling spells from Ethan Carlisle (2-22), Rory Medlock (2-36) and skipper Jasper Presswell (2-24) managed to contain them as they were all out for 211 in the 42nd over.

Hants, who were 134 for five, only got as far as they did thanks to some lower-order hitting.

Openers Ciaran Grey (31) and James Hayter (22) gave Devon a decent start with a 62-run first-wicket partnership.

Josh Couch then did his bit with 27 as the run chase was well and truly on.

It was skipper Jasper Presswell and big hitting Sam Russell who led Devon to their first win in four games.

Presswell, who carried his bat for 39, and Russell, who slammed two sixes and six fours in a 46-ball 59, put on a match-winning partnership of 92 as Devon won with eight overs to spare.

Hampshire 211 (H Wheeler 71,M Guilbeleguit 44no; E Carlisle 2-22, R Medlock 2-36, J Presswell 2-24); Devon 214-5 (C Gray 31, J Hayter 22, J Presswell 39no, S Russell 59; A Campbell 2-10). Devon bt Hants by 5 wkts.

DEVON Under-14s tumbled to their third ECB championship defeat on the trot when they were narrowly beaten by Wiltshire.

Devon had the home side struggling to score runs and losing wickets regularly as they batted first at sunny Malborough CC.

But they let the home side off the hook a little and conceded probably 40 runs too many in a final total of 182-9.

Ethan Carlisle was the pick of the Devon bowlers finishing with 4-36 from his 10 overs. Archie Farkins (2-14) and Rory Medlock (2-33) were also among the wicket takers.

Devon got off to a flying start with in-form James Hayter (63) and fellow opener Ciaran Grey (25) putting on 57 for the first wicket.

But Sam Russell (25) was the only other bat to really trouble the scorers as the visitors let the game slip and were all out 13 runs short of the required total in the 49th over.

Sam Giddings took five wickets for27 runs for Wiltshire.

Wiltshire 182-9 (T Kershaw 42, E Carlisle 4-36, A Farkins 2-14, R Medlock 2-33); Devon 169 (J Hayter 63, C Grey 25, S Russell 24 S Giddings 5-27). Wiltshire bt Devon by 13 runs.
