Ashburton skipper Ashley Berry goes on the offensive against Lewdown

BOVEY Tracey retained a tight grip on top spot in the C Division West by inflicting a 112-run defeat on Dartington & Totnes.

Sam Taylor (44) and Will Christophers (31) made a solid start before Harry Baxendale (3-31) and Ben Hartridge (3-40) provoked a dip from 85 for three to 97 for five.

Dan Green (24) and George Yabsley (60) got Bovey back on track and towards their final total of 222 for nine.

Green then ripped out the D&T top three in hurry and it was a struggle for the visitors after that.

Ian Bransdon (23) and Hartridge (28) put up a fight, but the die was cast.

Taylor Ingham-Hill (3-17) and Ollie Clifford-Bourne (2-18) ran through the lower order as D&T nosedived from 91 for five to 110 all out.

ASHBURTON eased their relegation worries with a nine-wicket win at Lewdown that lifted them 23 points clear of danger.

George Marshall picked up three wickets and there were two apiece for Akif Sohail and Dom Durman as Ashes dismissed Lewdiwn for 151.

Opener and captain Dave Ball was third man out at 107, after which it was downhill all the way.

Kev Nicholls (20) and Lloyd White made a 40-run dent n the target. White (63) and skipper Ashley Berry (52no) went all the way in a stand of 114 unbroken.

Winning captain Berry said: “It was another good, team performance with a clinical finish. 

“It's closer to the standard I know we are capable of so we need to ensure we maintain this level.”

FREDDIE Ford slammed his second league ton of the season to set Kingsbridge on course for a 183-run win over Chagford.

Ford, who took 110 off Alphington three rounds ago, went all the way to 156 all out in Kings’ total of 353 for two.

There were stands of 60 with James Fletcher, out off the glove for 30, 161 with James Ford (69) and 132 unbroken with Ashley Treeby (57no).

Ford now has 498 league runs for the season at an average of 49.80.

Chagford were all out for 170 in reply, skipper Del Lammonby (89no) battling on to the end.

Richard Carr and Bhanu de Silva took three wickets each.

PLYMPTON 2ndXI were able to include New Zealand women’s medium pacer Felicity Leydon-Davies in the side to face Shaldon 1st XI, but she could to little to stave off a four-wicket defeat.

Leydon-Davies, who opened, was out second ball in Plympton’s total of 159 all out.

Plympton were 40 for six before Charles O’Higgins (59) and Amara Carr (17) moved the score along. Alex Carr’s 16 at no.11 helped.

Shaldon seamer Ross Abraham opened his account with Leydon-Davies’ wicket and went on to take five for 39.

Shaldon were a little anxious at 61 for three with Richie Fisher (33) already out, but Dan Woolnough (33) and Joe Wilcox (28) saw them over any worries.

Simon Beare (3-30) was Plympton’s leading bowler.

Plympton are one off the bottom, 60 points adrift of safety with time running out to save themselves from the drop.

BRIDESTOWEcruised to as six-wicket victory over bottom side Cornwood.

Returning from a four-week injury break, captain Chris Lavis (1-16), kept things tight with the new ball along with Tom Boother (1-30).

Alex Jopling (2-38) spun through the rest of the top order before Ewan Grewal (84) launched a counter attack, hitting nine fours and five sixes.

Grewal had some support from Josh Goodliffe (27), with whom he put on 64, but Cornwood never really recovered from their slow start.

Ryan Dennis (3-28) took two wickets in the final over as Cornwood finished on 197-8.

Runs flowed early in the Bridestowe chase, but they also lost regular wickets and at 63 for three the game was in the balance.

Mark Fogerty (15) and Gary Sizmur (54no) put on 46 to rebuild the innings and put Bridestowe back in control.

Sizmur now has 419 runs at an average of nearly 60 in the division.

A brutal 22-ball innings from Brandon Horn (58 no), including four fours and six sixes, quickly finished the game as a contest.
