Flashback to last season's finals day at Budleigh and the game between eventual winners Torquay and Exmouth

THE Servicemaster Clean Devon T20 finals day goes ahead at Budleigh Salterton on Sunday – a week later than planned.

Devon League officials, who run the competition, decided to postpone finals day for a week to avoid a clash with the football World Cup final in Moscow.

With football fever at a high before England’s World Cup semi-final against Croatia last Wednesday night, an early decision was made to delay the cricket final to avoid a possible clash. England lost, there was no clash, but there was no way of reversing the postponement.

The original decision was criticised by Exmouth, one of the other finalists, but accepted without public comment by North Devon, Cullompton and Plymouth.

The first semi-final is between Exmouth and Plymouth (10am). North Devon are in semi-final two against outsiders Cullompton, who beat Premier Division Sandford to get through.

Sunday’s winners then go to a West region play-off day involving the Cornish champions, the WEPL champions and a qualifier from South Wales.

The West champions then go on to a national pathway that could take them all the way to finals day at Derbyshire CCC in mid-September.
