Steve Spoljaric - returns to Budleigh Salterton's side after an absence of seven years

BUDLEIGH Salterton have re-signed their former overseas star Steve Spoljaric for what is left of the current season.

Aussie all-rounder Spoljaric, now 41, played for Budleigh between 2006-2008 and again, briefly, in 2011.

In long career in both hemispheres, Spoljaric has played Grade cricket in Melbourne and Sydney as well a league cricket in Devon, Scotland and Durham.

Budleigh, who have no overseas player this season, were able to get Spoljaric’s registration through in time to play against Chudleigh at Kate Brook this Saturday.

Budleigh go into the game sixth in the table after a nine-wicket win over Ivybridge.

KEEP calm and carry on! That’s the rallying cry from Bideford skipper Paul Heard before clash with leaders Torquay at Westward Ho!

Bideford gave promotion-chasing Paignton a fearful fright before conceding an 11-run defeat last time out.

Fortunately for Bideford no one else in the bottom four won either so they are no worse off than before, not that ninth out of 10 is a good place to be in.

Paignton recovered from 115 for seven to make 205 all out.The overs ran out on Bideford when they were 194 for eight.

Said Heard: “If we find ourselves in winning positions for the remainder of the season we need to keep our composure and take our chances.

“Torquay is a tough ask but we ran Paignton close and I can't see why, if we play in the same fashion, we can't take the game all the way.”

Torquay have no team news to pass on this Saturday.

Abbotskerswell, away to Ivybridge, bring in Charlie Smout-Cooper for Noah Tobias and promote Aiden Lighthowlers for work-tied Charlie Mitchell

Cornwood, at home to Brixham, show two changes of personnel. Owen Gannon and Josh Goodliffe come in for Matt Tamsett and Craig Harris, who are unavailable

Third-placed Paignton are away to mid-table Plympton.
