CHUDLEIGH return to the A Division after a year in the B with a trip to Hatherleigh.

Ed Foreman’s side won the B Division by a hefty 20-point margin from Ipplepen to book their return to the A after demotion 12 months earlier.

Having had a long history of shuttling between the A and B Divisions, Foreman has a simple target for the summer ahead.

“Trying to stay up is our target – it will be a bonus to do more and that’s what we would like,” said Foreman.

Foreman’s view is the B Division was not that strong last season so it was a good year to get out of it.

One of the main reasons Chudleigh did get up was the reliable bowling form of Faisal Khaliq, who took 36 wickets at just under 11 each.

Rob Clarke (29wkts) and the three Heathers with 40 between them played a part.

Khaliq isn’t around this year – Chudleigh had a transfer request from a team in Bradford for him – but their other wicket-takers remain.

Chudleigh have also welcomed back brisk medium pacer Ben Holmes, who left the club for Barton.

A new face at the club is Guy Harrison-Roberts, initially with South Devon and more recently Abbotskerswell. He is a gutsy middle-order batter who sells his wicket dearly.

Overseas aid comes from Australian Cory Sinclair, who bowls left-arm spin and bats. He took a half-century off Exmouth 2nd XI in a pre-season friendly.
