B DIVISION leaders Barton went all the way to Cullompton for 15 balls of cricket -  and came home again.

There is no change at the top as joint leaders Seaton and third-placed Tavistock, who were due to play each other, were rained off as well.

Bottom side Babbacombe got a game in against Ipplepen – and won it off the last ball.

Babbacombe are still bottom, but with the three sides above not playing they have crept 12 points closer to safety.

The standings are Babbacombe (153pts), Cullompton (157), Shobrooke Park (163) and Plymstock (175). Even Ipplepen (181) and Thorverton (187) are not safe yet.

The game between Ipplepen and Babbacombe at Moor Road was slimmed down to 33 overs each and went right down to the last ball of the day.

Pens made 230 for nine and had a lot to thank Joey Abbott and Ashley Harvey for.

Jack Lewis (27) and Tom Dyer (27) had the only scores of note in a running total of 101 for five. Abbott (67) and Harvey (48) put on 72 for the seventh wicket to give the bowlers something to defend.

Opener Steve Lewis (84) and Janrich Viljoen (55) lad the foundations the chase, taking Babbacombe to 136 for two.

When Lewis was fourth out on 166 there was still work to do, which Steve Broad (19), Seb Loram (31) and Billy Allcock set about.

Babbacombe got down to the final over from Steve Bowden needing seven to win. Allcock (18no) hit the winning runs from the final ball.

Babbacombe host Tavistock at Walls Hill this Saturday. Ipplepen are away to Shobrooke Park.

Cullompton visit Filleigh this Saturday before the big one against Babbacombe on the penultimate Saturday of the season.

The game between Thorverton and Shobrooke Park was called off without a ball bowled.

The relegation picture may be a little clearer after this Saturday’s round of fixtures as Thorverton are at home to Plymstock and Shobrooke entertain Ipplepen.
