Ben Green - 90 not out for Exeter

EXETER wrapped up the season with a seven-wicket win over relegated Hatherleigh that took them up to second in the final table.

The County Grounders were outsiders to snatch the title on the last day as they needed both Heathcoat and Sidmouth ahead of them to lose.

Heathcoat lost which let Sidmouth in after they defeated Exmouth by 70 runs.

Hatherleigh were spun out for 138 in 43.2 overs by Ed Middleton (4-36) and Dominic Tuohey (2-29).

The main resistance came from Ryan Davies (27) and Charlie Nielson (38), aided and abetted by skipper Mark Lake with  26 at number eight.

Ben Green –in form after clouting a double ton for Somerset 2ndXI a couple of days earlier - hit 12 fours and three sixes in a run-a-ball 90 not out.

Tom Richardson (19no) was the junior partner in a stand of 76 that won the game in 30 overs.

Second place is more than respectable, but for Exeter it will be a disappointment.

Five clubs topped the Premier Division during the season just ended and Exeter, with six weeks at the summit, were there for longer than anyone else.
