TORQUAY return to Premier action following promotion with an away game at Heathcoat.

Skipper George Allen has not been idle during the winter as squad strengthening has been high on his list of priorities.

Batter Jason Degg, signed from A Division Plympton, has notched two half-centuries already playing in Devon warm-up games.

Also new to the Recreation Ground are former Paignton all-rounder Chris Kelmere, who supplies an off-spin option, and batter Stephen Lewis,  who is ex-Babbacombe and Barton.

Jordan Hoffman, a pace bowler who has played for Warmley and Four Oaks in Birmingham cricket, was among Allen’s first signings.

South African left-hander Elliot Moses, who racked up 550-plus runs for Ferguslie in Scotland last season, is the new overseas player.

Gone from 2018 are Jack Richardson, who now lives in Bristol and has signed for Congresbury, and Kazi Szymanski.

Paceman Szymanski is on contract with Glamorgan, who have placed him with Clydach.

Being a Torquay follower has been a roller-coaster experience over the last decade with two relegations, two promotions and a Premier title in between.

Allen and the management will hope to keep dramas to a minimum over the next 18 weeks.
