PLYMPTON took the spoils from the derby date with Ivybridge at Filham Park.

Plympton rocked along to 260 for eight in their 50 overs with Harry Kandampully top scoring on 83.

Christian Bunney (25) and Jack Horton (46) got Plympton up to 145 for three, then Kandampully and skipper Alex Carr (33no) took the tally into maximum bonus points territory.

Josh Coker (2-47) was the only Plympton bowler to take more than one wicket.

Ivybridge were well placed at 121 for two at the halfway stage, Adam Huxtable making 55, but slowed as the overs ticked down

Ivybridge needed 89 to win off the last 10 overs with four wickets intact, one of them Dinesh Raheja. Overseas latecomer Dudo Zondo made 34 on his debut.

Raheja batted through for an unbeaten 82 off 98 balls as Ivybridge plodded to 234 for eight.

Will Scott-Munden (3-48) shared the bowling stats from Ben Privet and Jacob Caunter, who had two wickets each.

Plympton skipper Carr said: “It was a great result in a tough game.

“Zondo is clearly a very good player so with him and Dinesh at three or four I think Ivybridge will cause a few upsets his year.

“Kandampully and Horton put on a great partnership under pressure.

“The two young lads, Scott-Munden and Privett bowled some brilliant spells at crucial times in the game.”

For Ivybridge captain a competitive defeat was better than the showing against Abbotserswell in round one.

“A much better batting performance than last week,” said Solomon.

“We just didn't take our chances in the field and they probably scored 40 more runs than they should have had we had taken the catches.”
