DYLAN Aucamp and Ian Gray both hit half-centuries to put Tavistock on course for a 105-run win at Barton.

It was Tavistock’s first win in the A Division since being promoted back into it at the end of last season.

Aucamp, whose 75 came off 12 balls and included 14 boundaries, put on 148 for the first wicket with Gray (68).

Matt Crampton (3-37) spun out both openers during a lull in proceedings that saw Tavvy meander to 180 for five.

Dave Manning upped the tempo again with an unbeaten 61 and was still there at the end in a total of 265 for eight.

Rob Shergold was the only frontline Barton bowler to go for less than four an over.

Marc Lewis (3-30) knocked over both Barton openers then off-spinner Sean Cleave got into the middle order on his way to figures of five for 29

Crampton went in first wicket down at 36 for one and was still there at the end, unbeaten on 58 in a total of 160 all out.

Winning skipper Shaun Daymond knew exactly where to place the credit for win number one.

“Our openers batted Barton out of the game,” said Daymond.

“The wicket got harder to bat on as the game went on so 265 looked good at half way.”

Barton have yet to win a game back in the A Division following promotion, not that skipper Adam Parker is panicking.

“We will be fine,” said Parker. “We know what we need to do and have the squad to do well in this division.

“Made a mistake bowling first and we bowled to many bad balls. We need to play sensible cricket after a great start, but played the wrong style.”
