SOUTH Devon are heading for the semi-finals of the Brockman Cup after beating Ipplepen 2nd XI by 21 runs in a high-scoring affair at Marsh Road.

Liam Price thumped 50 not out off 33 balls against his former club as South Devon totted up 164 for five in their 20 overs.

Mark Andrews (32) and Harry Senior (23) gave South Devon a 60-run start in the first six overs.

Rebuen Stanley (3-23) slowed the South Devon charge  - bowling skipper James Allen first ball helped - before Price upped the pace.

Pens’ Ben Forsey (0-51) suffered in his second spell as Price cut loose.

An asking rate just above eight an over was challenging for Ipplepen, but at 79 for three with 10 to go the chase was on.

Forsey (34 off 24 balls) and Seb Powell (25) had kept Ipplepen up with the clock.

Powell and Marcus Green (25) kept the chase alive. Then both went in the same over as 109 for three became 113 for five.

South Devon spinners Allen (2-26) and Rob Stephens (2-21) gave away little to hit as Pens slowed to 143 for five.

Also through to the last four of the competition are Lustleigh, who triumphed by 72 runs over Barton 2nd XI.

Although the prolific James Fulner missed out at the top of the order, runs from Steve Wright (23), Jon Wright (36) and Ed Griffin (24) helped Lustleigh reach 146 for seven.

Pick of the Barton bowlers with three for 20 was Martin Powell.

Barton were held to 74 for nine in reply. Morgan Harford (17) top scored.

There were three wickets for Duncan Manners-Chapman and two for Ollie Thomas, who has recently switched to Lustleigh from Kenn.

The draw for the semi-finals will be made once the outstanding second round games are played next week.

Abbotskerswell are at home to Stoke Gabriel and Chelston & Kingskerswell host Paignton. Both games are due to be played in Tuesday, May 28.
