CULLOMPTON could go top in the B Division if they beat visiting Plymstock.

Thorverton are top at the moment, but have no game tomorrow as they were due to play Filleigh, who have withdrawn.

There is a lot of jostling going on in the top six and wins over a rival are worth having.

“It's early days in the season but we realise the importance of this game,” said Cully skipper Jason Parr.

“I think Plymstock are going to be one of the strongest sides in B Division this season so I'm expecting it to be a tough fixture.

“It's the first time this season that we've had full squad availability so we go into the game as strong as we could be.”

Plymstock, who were top before their day off last Saturday, will be gunning to make up lost ground.

“Looking forward to getting back out there,” said vice-captain James Nicholls.

“We know this is likely to be our toughest test so far as Cully have started well and in the Parr brothers have the ability to win any game.

“Saying that we are confident in what we have and are now at full strength with the return of Scott Mansfield, which gives us an extra dimension to our middle order.

“We know we have more to offer than what we have shown in our first two games and that can only be a positive thing for us.”

Ipplepen in third place have a derby date with Bovey Tracey 2nd XI, a side without a win so far.

They may be one off the bottom, but Pens skipper Sam Wakeham won’t be underestimating them.

“Bovey will be a tough test,” said Wakeham. Even though they have not got a win under their belts yet they are a very experienced side, who have to be taken seriously.

“We will have to be at our best in all three areas.”

Seb Powell and Reuben Stanley come in for the absent Ben Forsey and Tom Durman. 

Pens beat table-proppers Brixham last Saturday, but will need to play better says Wakeham.

“Looking to follow on from last week with the bat, hopefully with a better start,” said Wakeham.

“We bowled okay, but there were far to many extras.”

Chudleigh, feeling good about themselves after getting off the mark against Kilmington, are hoping to make back to back wins this weekend against Brixham. Skipper Matt Heather has made two personnel changes. Paul Windsor-Horne comes in for Alex Haywood early in the order and Sam Harvey replaces veteran bowler Mark Heather.

Kilmington and Seaton meet at Hitchcock Field both looking for bounceback wins.

While Kilmington were losing at Chudleigh last Saturday, Seaton were slipping up against Cullompton.

“Looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing result last time out against Cullompton,”said Seaton skipper Ben Morgan.

“We know we can do better in all departments.”

“Niall Waterhouse and Mike Double are not available so in come Brian Cann and Dave Turner.

Kilmington skipper Brett Garner had selection issues against Chudleigh. They have eased slightly.

“Still missing three or four players but looking stronger this week,” said Garner.

“Looking forward to a good competitive game against a good side we know fairly well,

“At Kilmington in this kind of weather it could be a high-scoring game.

“We need to mature in the batting department this week and make better shot selections.”
