Archie Farkins celebrates his maiden county century in the win over Isle of Wight

ARCHIE Farkins notched his maiden century as Devon U15s crushed the Isle of Wight in their latest ECB Championship victory, writes Jim Parker.

The Paignton all-rounder hit 11 fours and one six in his knock of 105 as Devon finished on an impressive 283 for five from their rain-reduced 48 overs at Exmouth.

Farkins punished the Isle of Wight bowlers with an array of shots all around the ground. He and Ruben Windley (54) put on 127 for the fourth wicket.

James Hayter scored 37 at the top of the innings for Devon then Bovey Tracey’s Sam Russell showed no mercy lower down the order when he blasted 54, which included six fours.

Devon were just as good with the ball. Skipper Jasper Presswell (2-14), Charlie Presswell (2-19) and Paignton’s Rory Medlock (2-4) were among the wickets as the islanders were skittled out for just 76 in the 25th over to give Devon a massive 207-run victory.

It was the second successive win for Devon after their defeat of Hampshire. Next up is a trip to Oxfordshire this Sunday.
