So very near, but not close enough!

Playing at Whimple Cricket Club, the U15s met Somerset, the first time since being beaten by them in the T20 match in May. Somerset won the toss and put Devon into bat.

Unfortunately we lost our first wicket in just the third over. Emma Corney coming in at three put on a fine batting performance for her 90. She was well supported by Ellie Bishop (52) and the girls had a commendable 90 partnership. Devon batted their overs for 193-4.

With a mature Somerset side, it was in question whether Devon’s total was to be enough. Claiming two fairly early wickets, Devon was looking hopeful, with Somerset on 46-2 in the 13th over. However opener India Owen was to prove difficult to remove and on she went to 111 before she was caught by Evie Privett off Katie Donovan last wicket maiden over.

And though three wickets were taken for only 5 runs, Somerset reached their target (194-8) with 3 over to spare.
