Injury After Injury!!

Having beaten Cornwall earlier in the season by 150 runs, Devon looked hopeful  to beat them once again. Sadly this was not to be.

Cassia Astley-Jones started well with her 32, but Olivia Churcher (17) unfortunately couldn’t stay with her. Captain, Holly Elsworth (34) steadied the innings for a while after Devon were down three on just 69. Whether it was the humidity in the morning that stopped the ball from running to boundary or the crisp fielding from Cornwall, but Devon only managed to total 139-7 off their 40 overs.

It appeared that Devon’s total was not going to be too competitive for Cornwall; but injury after injury plagued Devon, with two of the injured girls having to leave the field, gave Cornwall the extra advantage. What with a large boundary and down to just 9 on the field, Cornwall certainly found the boundary in the afternoon.

Cornwall beat Devon by 7 wickets with just over seven overs to spare.
