Celebration time for Clyst St George

THERE’S no change at the top of the D Division East where Sandford 2ndXI and Kentisbeare are line astern behind leaders Clyst St George.

Leaders Clyst St George were 39-run winners at Upottery after posting 254 for four.

Sam Read (75) went past 800 league runs for the season when he reached 67 and there were half-centuries for Dan Kendall (61) and Freddie Creer (54).

Upottery needed one big score to build a chance around and Mark Joyce (47) did his best to supply it. Jack Larcombe (34) and James Mitcham (31) weighed in, but the total fell short on 215 all out.

Matt Knight (3-31) edge the bowling from George O’Dwyer (2-37), Kendall (2-31) and Chris Ferro 2-42).

SANDFORD dismissed visiting Chardstock for 206 with Harvey Blake (3-22), Adam Creasey (2-24) and Ben Clement (2-32) posing the problems.

In-form skipper Shaun Hawkins (52no) and Ashley Baker (45) ensured a smooth chase.

KENTISBEARE chased to win against Feniton after being set a target of 249. 

Two sets of bowling figures stood out for Kents: Neil Farley (4-46) and Andy Chave (3-44). Adrian Pullin top scored for Feniton.

Steve Reed lashed a sprightly 102 off 61 balls – 10 fours, eight sixes – to speed Kents to victory despite Pullin’s (4-34) best efforts.

PAUL Rendall’s five-wicket haul helped Sampford Peverell & Tiverton to a 69-run win over Budleigh Salterton.

Robbie Broomhead top scored with 63 and put on 91 with Harry Everett (41) in SP&T’s 181 all out. Ollie Clark (3-22) scooped the bowling honours for Budleigh.

Budleigh wobbled to 22 for three against Josh Kallaway (3-20), recovered to 73 for four thanks to Nick Boult (43) then slumped from 90 for four to 112 all out as Rendall (5-17) got to work.

CLYST Hydon defeated Honiton by 78 runs to edge closer to safety. They are only two points away from getting out of the bottom three.

Graham Trude (84no) and Alex Newman (51no) put on 137 unbroken for the seventh wicket towards a total of 266. Sinthuran Thevaraj made 49 early on.

Adam Holmes (4-33) was Honiton’s leading bowler and also their prime run getter with 54 in an all-out reply of 188. Kevin Kelly (41) was next best.

There were two-wicket hauls for Chris Holmes, James Billington and Newman.
