IT was a slow and steady start for the Devon girls, won the toss and decided to bat against Gloucestershire.

Unfortunately opener Georgia Read’s (6) wicket was claimed in the third over off Lily Knox’s bowling - she was to go on to claim a further three of Devon’s wickets with good bowling figures (8-2-21-4).

Ellie Bishop (73) and Ruby Davis (41) batted well together for their 115-run partnership; as did Jemima Vereker (36) and Ellie for a 63 partnership. There was a little tumble of wickets in the middle order but Devon batted their 40 overs for 194-6.

Was Devon’s score to be enough as Gloucestershire also had a slow and steady start? It certainly proved it was as Gloucestershire had a collapse before drinks at 14 where there were 59-5. They weren’t to make the next drink break as the Devon girls bowled Gloucestershire out in the 23rd over for 101. Alicia Stebbing (3-1-8-3), Jemima Vereker (4-0-8-2) and Ruby Davis (4-0-21-2) did the greatest damage with Chloe Dennis taking the final wicket (0.3-0-1-1).

A wonderful 93-run win by Devon!
