Just not close enough!

The Devon girls had a fortune win against Gloucestershire when they met at home back in June. Unfortunately the girls weren’t to be as fortunate away in Gloucestershire. Batting first and though Olivia Churcher (50) and Becca Halliday (42) made runs, it was a shame they weren’t able to push on; especially as no one in the team got anything like their scores. Yet again the middle order weren’t able to value their wicket and in just 7 overs we lost 5 wickets for just 32 runs. Batting the overs for 188-8, it really appeared that unless the bowlers did an amazing job, we were to be serious runs short.

The opening bowlers, Jojo Baylis (8-2-17-0) and Katie Harman (8-1-29-1) did an amazing job and Gloucestershire were 42 runs behind Devon after their 14 over spell. Things were looking positive for Devon; however the runs advantage very quickly disappeared with some rather wayward bowling. By the time Jemima Vereker(playing up) came on to bowl for her 22-3 off 4 overs,  it was too late, and Gloucestershire had made the runs and won by 5 wickets.
