Adam Huxtable - bowled well for Ivybridge but with no reward<br>credit: www.ppauk.com

FOUR wickets for Charlie Barriball and three more for Sean Cleve earned Tavistock a hefty 137-run win over relegation worriers Ivybridge.

Mid-table Tavistock are going nowhere this season, but the Bridge have been living dangerously in and around the bottom two for most of the season.

Results elsewhere were kind to the Bridge in round 14. They avoided dropping into the bottom two, but are only a couple of points clear of it.

Tavistock made brisk progress to 295 for eight in their 50 overs.

Billy Barriball (66) and Dave Manning (57) put on 127 for the third wicket then James White (61) and Harry Geering (20) added 69 in a hurry for the fifth wicket.

Ivybridge’s George Berry (5-55) picked up three late wickets to enhance his bowling figures. Adam Huxtable (0-24 off 10) got no reward for bowling well.

Ivybridge were looking down the barrel of six an over to win from the start, which was always a big ask. At 86 for three with half the overs gone, the game was only going one way.

Harvey Johnson (33), Dudo Zondo (22), Dinesh Raheja (22) and skipper Harry Solomon (34) made the significant scores in the Ivybridge reply.

Charlie Barriball (4-20) got wickets every time he came on. Cleave (3-47) took three of the four that went as 103 for three became 118 for seven and Dylan Aucamp (2-22) tidied up at the end.

Winning captain Shaun Daymond said: “It was a good performance all round.

“We were put in on a really good track and our batters made the most of it.

“Our bowlers stuck to the plan and made sure they were never in with a chance of chasing.”

Beaten captain Solomon said: “We had a poor day at the office and were beaten by a team that bowled and batted better than we did.”
