Latest bulletin from Tolchards Devo League secretary Ed Leverton

Coronavirus Planning – 2020 Cricket Season

FOLLOWING the decision earlier this week to suspend all recreational cricket for the foreseeable future, I wrote to all member clubs with a joint statement on behalf of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League and the Devon Women’s Cricket League.

Over the next few days and weeks the league will bring you further updates and particularly how things will change as we approach, what would have been, the commencement of the 2020 cricket season.

We will be working with both the ECB and the Devon Cricket Board over the days and weeks ahead to try and do what we can to support our member clubs through this unique period of uncertainty.

Distribution Meeting –April 21, 2020

Because of the advancement of the coronavirus within the UK, it is clear that it will be some weeks before we see a decline in the number of cases.  In line with Government advice we have made the fairly straightforward decision to postpone the annual distribution meeting, scheduled for April 21 at the Exeter Court Hotel.

The ECB are in direct contact with the Government and any decision as to when it is safe to resume recreational cricket will be determined by the current medical advice.

Member clubs will have been invoiced for their league-branded cricket balls and affiliation fees to the league.  On your behalf, we are in discussions with our suppliers on the options open to us if either no, or only a very limited, amount of cricket is possible.

Once we have a decision around that we will report back to you directly.  The league is also considering the issue of the 2020 affiliation fees to the league, should no cricket be possible at all.

Please do continue to look out for these e-mails as we will do our best to keep in contact with member clubs through this difficult time.  In the meantime stay well and stay safe.
