DEVON’S Development XI get the season under way at Exmouth today (Tuesday) when Cornwall provide the opposition in a 50-over game (11am).

Although ECB-supported games have been scrapped for this season, Devon have arranged four county games against relatively local opposition.

Dorset are due to visit Sidmouth on August 11. Further games are booked against Somerset at Sandford on August 18 and Gloucestershire at Thornbury on August 24.

The Development XI has replaced the former under-16 and under-17 sides.

Today’s team is: J Du’Gay, S Broomhead; J Farley; C Gray; D Hurst; T Ingham-Hill; R Medlock; J Pascoe; C Presswell; A Farkins; C Ward; J Whittaker.

COUNTY under-18 cricket begins at Exeter tomorrow (Wednesday) with a game against Cornwall (11.30am).

The game is the first of four in a limited fixture list running throughout August.

Somerset at Sandford (Aug 19), Gloucestershire at Thornbury (Aug 26) and Dorset at Exeter (Aug 28) complete the programme.
