EAST TWO

NEIL Maud steamed in to take four wickets for 38 runs, and there were three wickets for skipper Shaun Hawkins, in Sandford II’s 18-run win over Clyst St George.

Chris Blake (72) and Tom Williams (42) shared a stand of 147 for the second wicket in Sandford’s total of 218 for eight.

Off-spinner Ollie Chatterjee (6-40) took the bowling honours for Clyst.

With Dan Kendall (66) and Inder Singh (74) wiping away at the deficit, an away win seemed to be on the cards.

Hawkins stuck when Singh tried to sweep him and was bowled. After that Clyst subsided to 200 all out.

Sandford are at home to Exeter II in East Two this Saturday.

EXETER raced to an eight-wicket win over Exmouth to maintain their unbeaten start to the East Two campaign under skipper Graham White.

Exmouth scraped up 158 for nine in their 40 overs, largely due to a tenacious knock of 56 from young Luke Davies, who went in at 38 for two and was involved in partnerships worth 114 before he was eighth out on 152.

Tor Ziegler-Evans (3-47) sent back Davies and Naj Choudhary (4-18) accounted for the stragglers.

Exeter could not have wished for a worse start as veteran opener Mike Wilkinson was dismissed in the first over by Sean Day.

Sean Langford (48no) and Mark Gribble (38) took the score up to 58 when Fin Hill (57) joined Langford to knock off the remaining runs with more than 11 overs in hand.
