Chris Ferro - upped the pace for Clyst St George

EXETER 2ndXI are through to the Tier Three play-offs thanks to a 25-run win over Clyst St George in the final game of the East Two programme.

An opening stand of 90 between Sean Langford (41) and Lucas Soeller (54) was topped up by Fin Hill (31) as Exeter progressed to 223 for seven.

Only Andrew Donovan (30) made much headway for Clyst, who stumbled to 72 for five on the chase.

Chris Ferro (35) upped the pace and runs from Olie Chatterjee (27) and Bertie Creer (44no) got the reply up to 175 for eight.

Naj Choudhary (3-46) and Oscar Lovell (2-33) picked up the wickets Exeter needed to leave Creer undefeated in an all-out total of 198.

Exeter are away to Kilmington in their play-off.

SANDFORD 2ndXI were pipped at the post by Exeter 2ndXI for a place in the Tier Three play-offs.

Sandford had to beat Exmouth in their East Two game and post a point spread of at least 16 points to be sure of qualifying. Fifteen would mean working out net run rates and 14 meant runners-up spot.

Although Sandford skittled Exmouth for 93 to secure all five bowling points, and went on to win by four wickets, a dropped batting points and the wickets lost enabled Exeter to qualify by two tenths of a point thanks to their win over Clyst St George.

Skipper Richard Baggs (35) had the only score in double figures as Greg Lewis (3-18) then Tom Williams (4-8) ran through the Exmouth batting.

Sandford got in a muddle on the chase against the spin of Stuart Shaw (4-17), but Archie Osborne’s 23 not out saw them over them home.
