WITH Honiton first team looking to follow up from last week’s win skipper Oli Cave lost the toss and his side were asked to bat first and things went like so....

In a fantastic batting performance from the boys they hit 343-3 in the first innings.

Andy Canniford and Pete Matravers (right) both steadied the ship after a fall of a couple early wickets hitting two brilliant centuries, 100 off of 69 balls and 168 off 131 respectively.

“Pete was pivotal to our season last year and has continued his good form into this season, he's a massive asset to the team and I hope he continues to bat as well as he is,” said Cave.

Honiton followed up with a superb fielding and bowling performance, much improved from last week, skittling the home side for 94,

Phil Tansley was the pick of the bowlers who took 3-5 off his nine overs including 6 maidens!

“He was fantastic today and bowled with great control,” said Cave.

Tansley was supported well by Rob Ingram who got 3-15 off 4.1 overs and Ben Kidson who got 3-48,

The skipper added "The way the team is gelling is really pleasing from my perspective and I think challenging for promotion is a real possibility this year off the back of those 2 performances!

“It's important we keep momentum going and continue with the attitude we have at the moment on to next week away at Cullmstock which is not an easy place to go at all.”
