THERE'S still time to get applications in for the vacant post on the Tolchards Devon Cricket League management as regulations and rules secretary.

Post-holder David Gambie is standing down after two years in the job so someone new has to be found.

The new person will be responsible for the maintenance of the league’s playing regulations and rules. They will be an integral part of the league’s management committee, which meets nine times a year.

David Sheppard, the league secretary, said league officials have a shrewd idea of the right person for the post and won’t rush into making an appointment as they don’t need to.

The closing date for applications is this Thursday, which is December 17.

“The league would welcome hearing from anyone keen to find out more about the post," said Sheppard.

“Someone who is well organised, with some previous experience of working with the playing rules of a sports organisation would be well suited.

“This represents a good opportunity for someone to volunteer for the major provider of competitive League cricket in the county.

“While the current post-holder has expressed their intention to stand down, the timeline for recruiting their successor is to be determined.”
