Follwing the rain of last week, both the Mixed and Girls Schools Kwik Cricket Festivals for the West of the County took place concurrently at Plympton Cricket Club.  Large entry numbers meant the outfield was full of children enjoying some very competitive cricket in the glorious sunshine.  Overnight news that travellers had tried to settle on the Plympton ground set the nerves jangling until it was confirmed they had been unsuccessful in setting up camp.

After three rounds of matches in the Mixed event, four schools were undefeated - Boringdon, Compton, Hyde Park and Elburton.  They played off in two finals to identify the qualifiers for the County Round.  Congratulations to Compton and Hyde Park who were successful in two low scoring, nervy, games!

The Girls event was played in a round robin format.  One early loss for Boringdon left them in 4th place on run difference from Mount Kelly in 3rd.  Both Plymouth College and Hyde Park were undefeated meaning they both progress to the County FInals at Bovey Tracey Cricket Club in two weeks time.

Many thanks to Bev at Plympton for his support and to the whole club for continuing to host our festivals.
