DEVON Women return to Royal London County Championship action this weekend when they travel to Wales, hoping to maintain their place at the top of the table.

There’s been an unusually long break since beating Essex in their last game as Ireland have pulled out of the league, leaving Devon with a break between fixtures.

“However the squad have been busy in the break either playing or training hard" said Head Coach Trevor Griffin "We’ve not rested on our laurels, this is a big season for us”.

Wales is likely to be a tough game, last year’s encounter went down to the wire with Wales needing 4 to win with 2 wickets remaining in a rain affected game - 2 run outs in the last over gave Devon the win.

“Wales lost their last game against Nottinghamshire but we won’t be taking them lightly at all” said captain Jodie Dibble.

“We always have a close game with Wales, they’re a well drilled side and are tough to beat, but we’re in a good place and have played some good cricket, and I’ll be looking for a strong performance from the team again this weekend”.

The only change for Devon is Amara Carr who’s unavailable so Alli Kelly takes the gloves, the game starts at 11am at Usk Cricket Club.
