TORQUAY CC has so many awards to hand out at its presentation evening it is splitting the event in two AND invited two Somerset players to help hand them out.

Torquay’s own rising star Sonny Baker will be joined by county team-mate Marchant de Lange for the Friday night out in the club pavilion.

Baker capped a phenomenal debut season for Somerset by representing England under-19s against the West Indies.

Paceman de Lange has played for South Africa and Trent Rockets on his way up the fast-bowling pecking order.

Due to predicted numbers the evening has been divided into two parts. 

The Torquay All Stars’ and Dynamos’ awards ceremonies will at 5.30pm. This will then be followed at around 6:30pm by the awards for the under-15s, under-19s, girls’, ladies’ and men’s sections.

“Both parts of the evening will include question-and-answer sessions with Sonny and Marchant and lots of photo opportunities,” said club coach Tim Western.

“The bar will be open and we look forward to great evening celebrating the successes, efforts and achievements of the 2021 season.”

Parking will be available at the rugby club end of the ground on the hard-standing.
