TORQUAY Nomads won the J V Narracott cricket cup competition for the first time. In the Recreation Ground final they beat Old Grammarians by eight wickets.

Grammarians, batting first, found runs hard to get and were all out for 69. L Pollard for Nomads claimed the first two wickets for only six runs and ended with an average of five for 35. L Endacott took three for 33 (?).

R Oarsman and A Griffiths opened for Nomads and took the score to 32 before Oarsman was bowled for 18. Joined by E Payne, Griffiths still batted well. Payne was bowled with the score on 52. Then L Endacott joined Griffiths and the pair knocked-up the remaining runs together.

Old Grammarians: Fitzpatrick 10, Martin 1, Sleeman 4, Williams 14, Coleman 19, J Westlake 1, W Webster1, Dixon 1, Shepherd 10no, Madge 3, Graham 1, Extras 1: Total 69.

Nomads: R Oarsman 18, A Griffiths 33no, E Payne 10, L Endacott 18no: Total 84 for two wickets.

Mrs B L Narracott, wife of the donor, presented the cup and plaques to winners and losers. The cup was received on behalf of Nomads by captain R Oarsman.
