Gareth Tidball – 76 off 33 balls for Hatherleigh against Belstone

DIVISION ONE

HATHERLEIGH’S sponsors were treated to a run feast during their annual lunch day in the game against Belstone.

Nearly 750 runs were scored during the afternoon, including 196 by Hatherleigh's overseas player Kagiso Rapulana.

Rapulana was the star attraction, as he tucked into the Belstone bowling. His 196 came off 109 balls, and contained 34 fours and four sixes.

Gareth Tidball then took over, scoring 76 off just 33 balls. He put on 84 with Zac Spears (27), who was stumped off the last ball of the innings.

Richard Drake took all three wickets for the Foxes.

Belstone gave it a go and their total 341 would win most matches. 

Skipper Matt Dennis led the way with a belligerent 96. There was support all through the batting order. Drake (46) and Leon Horn (49) prominent.

Oscar Moore (3-52) was the stand out bowler for the hosts.

NEWTON Tracey amassed 197 in their 40 overs against 10-man Bratton Fleming. 

Kieran Soper (43) and Martin Gear (41) were the main contributors. 

There were three wickets for Jack Gordon and a couple each for Neil Ayre and the evergreen James Tapp.

Daniel Godfrey (77) led the chase with support from Ayre (38) and Simon Jennings (47no) as the home side got the runs with 18 balls to spare.

Richard Screech took a couple of wickets for Newton.

DIVISION TWO

FILLEIGH were at it again on Sunday in their Division Two encounter with Nomansland.

Having piled-up runs against Culmstock on Saturday in the Tolchards Devon League there was another run glut on Sunday.

When Les Rendall bowled Filleigh skipper Kevin Toze with the score on 65, little did he know that was as good as it was going to get. Chris Cullen (111no) and Jas Kalsi (149no) piled on the runs in an unbeaten 248-run stand in a final total of 303 for one. 

Having sweltered for 40 overs, Nomansland succumbed to 85 all out. Captain Greg Cole (43) and Neil Feltham (23) scoring the bulk of the runs. Chris Gosney had remarkable bowling figures of five for six off 12 balls for Filleigh in an 218-run win.

DIVISION THREE

JAMIE Sutton hit an unbeaten 92 to steer Barnstaple & Pilton to a four-wicket win at Newton Tracey.

Newton, led by Julian Moore (66) and Tyler Jowitt (45) were bowled out by the visitors for 194.

Ruben Chugg (3-45) and Ben Dales (3-28) both took three wickets for B&P. Freddie Norton (2-54) chipped in with a couple.

Sutton took B&P to victory with an over and a half to spare. Dominic Chugg (21) chipped in towards the chase.

Shane Andrew took three wickets for nine runs for Newton.
