Heathcoat CC Under 19 T20 side found life easy going at the County Finals event held at Cornwood CC on Sunday.

After easing their way past Bideford in the semi-final winning by a comfortable 80 runs, it was expected that a tighter final would prevail against Paignton CC, who had a tough match in the other semi against Ivybridge. That match went to the final over with Paignton needing 5 runs from it, which they achieved with 3 balls to spare. Charlie Ward top scored for Paignton, retiring on 50 runs. In the first innings, Ivybridge had battled to a respectable 125-8 with Jacob Kopperambil top scoring with 42 runs.

It was déjà vu for the final as both Paignton and Heathcoat had contested it 12 months previous at Cornwood. This time Paignton CC won the toss and elected to bat first, which they were soon regretting, finding themselves all out for just 40 runs in 11.2 overs. Charlie Ward again top-scoring with 14 runs. Heathcoat bowlers Daniel Pugsley and Freddie Bucknell both bagged 4 wickets a piece for next to no runs. It was a swift and clinical response from Heathcoat with openers William Bucknell and Tom Reynolds seeing them home to a 10-wicket victory in under 4 overs. The victory meant Heathcoat retained the county title for another year.

Captain Will Bucknell was presented with the winner's trophy by Harry Soloman from Wombat Cricket who kindly sponsor the competition.
