Details for the Devon Cricket Performance Pathway nomination and selection process have been released for the 2023 season.

The Performance Pathway is Devon Cricket's elite talent development programme. Players are observed and selected for different levels within the Pathway depending on their skill level. These levels are:

  • Youth Development Cricket (YDC)*
    • This is the first level within the Performance Pathway.
    • Boys squads: Under 10s, 11s, 12s, 13s and 14s.
    • Girls squads: Under 11s, 13s and 15s.
  • County Age Group (CAG)*
    • This is the second level within the Performance Pathway.
    • Boys squads: Under 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 16s and 18s.
    • Girls squads: Under 13s, 15s and 18s.
  • Emerging Player Programme (EPP)
    • The aim of the EPP is to identify and develop cricketers who have the potential to play National County Cricket, join a County Academy or a First Class County.
    • There are no EPP squads. This is a programme for Boys Under 13s to 16s to develop their skills further over an extensive winter programme and a summer provision.
    • The Girls EPP provision is run by Western Storm.
  • Academy
    • The purpose of the Academy is to develop players aged 17 and over, capable of performing at National of First Class level.
    • Boys squads: Under 17s and 18s.
    • The Girls Academy provision is run by Western Storm.

*Players may be moved between YDC and CAG squads depending on development needs.

The nomination and selection process will be separated into two phases:

Phase 1

This phase is specifically for players who are not currently involved in the Performance Pathway.

Players who were involved in the YDC or CAG Winter Programmes 2022/23 or who have been selected for a YDC or CAG Summer Squad in 2023 will not be observed in this phase.

Players who do not meet these criteria will need to be nominated, including those players who have previously been involved in the Performance Pathway.

Phase 2

In this phase, players selected from Phase 1 will join players who were involved in YDC Winter Programmes 2022/23 for observation.

Players who have been selected for a YDC or CAG Summer Squad in 2023 will automatically be invited into a 2023/24 YDC Winter Programme or for observation into a 2023/24 CAG Winter Programme.

NOMINATION PROCESS

We recommend that club coaches, team managers, or junior coordinators nominate players for the Performance Pathway. Parents cannot nominate their children for observation.
