Match Report - Devon v Gloucestershire (11.6.16)

Arriving in the rain, didn't look too promising for our match against Gloucestershire, however by the warm up the rain had subsided, and though it remained grey and threatening, we did manage to complete our match at Woodbury Cricket Club.

Devon were put into bat by Gloucestershire, and what with bowling from Danielle Gibson (8-3-20-2), Naima Milhofer (8-2-19-2) and Phoebe Pearce (7.5-0-20-2); along with some questionable decisions, the girls conducted themselves with great dignity. Becca Halliday was beginning to look like she would score big in this match, sadly was caught for 29; Devon were bowled in the 39th for just 102.

It looked like a fairly easy target for Gloucestershire, meaning that Devon had to bowl the Gloucestershire girls out for a chance of victory. Gloucestershire were on 41 with a loss of three of their wicket, and Devon seriously slowed the run-rate, and for the next 10 overs Gloucestershire had only managed to put on 17 runs. Runs continued to come slowly though, as wickets fell. Maddie Holifield (8-0-32-3), Millie Attwell (5-0-18-2) and Sophie Gillies (5-1-18-2) causing the greatest damage, but it was to prove to be not quite enough to bowl Gloucestershire out and they finished on 103-8.
