TAVISTOCK dashed to victory against Dartington & Totnes in a rain-affected game.

Dartington, currently bottom of the table, were bowled out for 123 in 43.2 overs.

No one made more than Kevan Throgmorton, who went in at 74 for five and made a top score of 28. Next best was veteran Harold Stevenson with 19.

Tavvy captain Shaun Daymond led the wicket-taking effort with four for 25 – including big-hitting South African Ed Verrall, who was held back to bat at number six. He made 17.

Paceman James McGahey (2-20) had an opener and a tail-ender.

A rain break meant some long division was needed to work out what Tavvy needed to win in 33 overs.

The answer was 92 in 33 overs and they got there with eight wickets and seven overs to spare.

Dave Ball (21) and Ian Gray (23) got the chase up to 57 for two, leaving Daymond (29no) and Dave Manning (14no) to do the rest.

Dartington & Totnes skipper James Howrihane said more commitment is needed if results are going to improve.

“Players need to start being available more every week as we are changing the team by four or five people,” said last season’s promotion winning captain.

“I am confident if we had the team we had last year consistently we would start winning some games. Winning a toss at some point might help.”
