35 clubs in Devon have saved hundreds of pounds on their liability insurance cover after using the ECB's Safe Hands Management System (SHMS).
Working with insurance brokers Howden, the ECB has arranged a central insurance scheme that provides free liability protection to all clubs that register.
The cover provides wide-ranging protection for clubs, including:
- Public Liability - £15 million
- Professional Indemnity - £10 million
- Employers Liability - £10 million
- Directors and Officers Liability - £2 million
- Legal Expenses - £100,000
- Cyber Liability - £50,000
Clubs can also gain free access to cyber security to help ensure they have the right protection in place for their systems. Learn more.

Registering for this free insurance is simple.
Firstly, clubs must be signed up to the SMHS. 79 clubs across the county are already signed up, so make sure to check if your club is registered! Details of how to do this can be found on our dedicated SHMS page.
Once clubs are logged in to SHMS, registering for the free insurance is simple:
- Go to club dashboard and select "Venues & Insurance"
- Click on "New Risk Assessment" under "Insurance"
- Complete the risk assessment questionnaire and, on the final page, enter the renewal date of the club's insurance policy
- Click submit
The insurance will start from the date of expiration of the club's current policy and will run to the renewal date of the scheme, which is February 1 of each year.
If a club's current policy expires before next February, clubs will get a confirmation of the insurance cover from the renewal date until January 31, and then be included in the next annual policy from February 1 onwards.
If a club's current policy expires on or after February 1, the club will be included in next year's policy.
