AUSSIE paceman Cameron Suidgeest took six of the best as Bradninch spanked visiting Hatherleigh by nine wickets.

Hatherleigh were put in by Bradninch skipper Tim Piper and all out 33 overs later for 102.

Andy Buzza (3-18) and Gary Chappell made the initial breakthroughs – Matt Thomas (22) among them - and Suidgeest was wicketless until he whipped out Gareth Tidball in his second spell.

Only Ryan Davies (15) made it into double figures once the slide was on with Suidgeest taking three wickets in eight balls to speed Hatherleigh on their way.

Bradninch opener Ross Acton failed to make it to the end of the second over – Chris Jelly knocking him over.

Chappell (68no) and Dan Hardy (36) cracked on to see Bradninch over the line in the 25th over.

While Bradninch are looking down on the table 19 points clear of Budleigh Salterton, Hatherleigh are a point clear of the relegation slots.

The message from Hatherleigh captain Mark Lake is losing to Bradninch with a depleted team isn’t terminal, but results do have to improve.

“Bradninch were just better than us really, by far the best team we've played this year,” said Lake.

“Again we were poor with the bat, but I have confidence we will turn it around.

“It sound stupid looking at the scorecard, but we actually bowled well.

“But when Bradninch were only chasing 100 they had to take very few risks.

“Our season won't be won and lost against Bradninch. But I see a run of games now where we have to pick up some wins.

“There's no doubt about that and the lads know this.”

Piper said Bradninch took a while to hit their straps, but once they did there was only going to be one outcome.

“We were a bit complacent to start and had to focus after a poor first few overs, but from then on, we were always in control,” said Piper.

“I was expecting a slightly harder game, but it was another week when the opposition had a few missing.

Cameron closed the innings out well which is what we've missed at times in the past.”

On the batting side Piper said: “Gary Chappell is now averaging more than 200 this season.

“Others are in good nick if anyone ever gets Chaps out.”
