BRADNINCH showed the difference between the top of the A Division and the bottom when they routed Ipplepen by 118 runs.

Bradninch opener Gary Chappell roared through 500 league runs for the season with 68 at the top of the order He is on 536 at an average of 178.66.

Chappell and Josh Cann (26), back at Bradninch after leaving Sandford, gave the divisional leaders a 59-run start.

The runs kept coming from Will Greig (30) and even getting Chappell out didn’t help.

Dan Hardy made 36 then skipper Tim Piper (47) and Andy Buzza (25) notched 45 in four overs for the sixth wicket.

With wickets in hand Bradninch threw the bat in the latter stages, allowing Ethan Keller (4-48) and Paul Thomas (3-73) to pick up some bowling bonus points for the Pens in Bradninch’s total of 257 all out.

Ipplepen barely got out of first gear in reply as Cameron Suidgeest (2-27) and Ross Acton (2-23) had them under the cosh from the start.

A stand of 40 between Joe Abbott (10) and Mawgan Penrice (34) was as good as it got for Ipplepen.

Former Devon spinner Will Squire (3-13) got into the middle order then Chappell knocked over Penrice. Pens were all out for 139 with 15 overs to go.

Bradninch reach the halfway stage this Saturday when they host Plympton, Piper’s men are 22 points clear of Paignton and 25 ahead of Lewdown in third spot.
