IVYBRIDGE have taken over at the top of the B Division table following a four-wicket win over Plymstock.

Plymstock were top of the shop themselves prior to the latest round of fixtures, but have dropped back to second place.

After being bowled out for 145 – Jeewan DeSilva taking four of their wickets for just 20  runs – Plymstock were always on the back foot.

Jack Horton (55) and captain Scott Mansfield (22) were Plymstock’s main run getters. They put on 48 for the third wicket.

Josh Hocken (10) kept an end going while Horton hit out at the other to add another 42 for the fifth wicket.

The lower order crumbled against Solomon (2-25), and De Silva.

Ivybridge made a wobbly start – Seb Jordan (2-35) and Brotne Bess (2-21) proving a handful – but a 65-run stand between Josh Zimmerman and Harry Solomon ensured it was mission accomplished for the Bridge.

Kelvin Trent, the Ivybridge captain, said it was a far from perfect performance by his side and there are improvements needed to stay top.

“We bowled first in favourable conditions and didn't bowl the best we have so far this season,” said Trent.

“Being critical we gave them a lot of four balls which they put away. I think we let them get 20-30 runs too many.

“When we batted we were tied down by some good early bowling, which we knew would happen.

At 37 for four we needed a good partnership and got it from Josh and Harry.

“They both batted really well in the situation and we eventually got ourselves over the line

“We gave away a few our wickets with silly decisions and shots, something we need to work on if we want to remain at the top and unbeaten.”
