ASHBURTON stay right behind Shaldon at the top of the table after defeating Exwick by 106 runs.
While Shaldon were trouncing Stokeinteighnead by 10 wickets, Ashes were picking up a 200 points themselves
Lloyd White’s run of form continued with 65 in Ashburton’s tally of 200 for eight.
Stands of 44 with Martin Causey and 82 with Ashley Berry (33) got Ashes up to 126 for two.
Rehann Caryl (2-46) got White out, but Berry, Ash Harvey (16) and James Dark (27) kept the runs coming.
There were two wickets each for Dan Machin (2-43), Caryl and Rami Yedidi (2-38).
Exwick were skittled out for 94 with 17 overs to go – Kris Calderhead (23) and Greg Newcombe (21) the only batters to make more than nine.
The damage was done by Matt Churchill (4-26) Harvey (2-20).
Ashburton are at home to Stokeinteignhead this Saturday.
TOPSHAM St James wrapped up victory over South Brent in double-quick time after shooting them out for 39.
Ross Treleaven (4-24) and Brian Jeary (4-11) were Topsham’s destroyers with the ball in the 19.3 overs South Brent survived.
In the ninth over Treleaven took a hat-trick disposing of Dave Fidoe, Dave Lewis and Richard Saunter.
It was Ross Treleaven’s third hat-trick for Topsham St James 1st XI, the previous ones being in 2011 and 2015.
Tail-ender Adam Cook and Richard Haines were joint top scorers with seven each, next best was five and four batters didn’t make a run between them.
Topsham lost two wickets in the 7.5 overs it took to make the runs. Aiden Pring (13) and Charlie Penn (18) were the not-out batsmen.
Yelverton Bohemians bounced back from their defeat against Stokeinteignhead with a dominant win over Newton St Cyres at Langton Park.
After winning the toss and bowling first, Yelverton took an early wicket following a mix up with the Newton batsmen, Geoff Brain and Dan Keylock combining to complete the run out of Chris Collyer.
The introduction of Dan Keylock (1-9), replacing the economical Pete Lojszczyk (0-8) bought a second wicket, and the next over Sam Crompton (1-23) joined in, reducing Newton to 20-3.
A small period of resistance followed, without Newton really managing to get away.
In the 21st over, Hadleigh Scott-Kirk picked up a wicket in his first over, and a accurate spell the wickets began to tumble, Scott-Kirk finishing with figures of 4-3, supported by Pat Hobbs (2-8) and Dan Cooper (1-1).
With a low total of 68 to chase, Yelverton openers Julyan and Hobbs started cautiously, with 2 off the first over, before Hobbs opened up, taking 16 and 13 off the next two overs.
The assault on the Newton bowlers continued, with Hobbs reaching 53, and Yelverton their total in eight overs to win by 10 wickets.
Next week, Yelverton travel to table topping Shaldon Optimists, hoping to continue their push for promotion.
JAMES Gosling struck an unbeaten 69 to send Kenn racing to a seven-wicket win over Buckland Monachorum.
Buckland got to 101 for three without too many problems, then slumped to 123 all out. Paul Edwards top scored with 53 before he was won of four scalps for Ben Gannon.
Gosling returned for a second spell to take three wickets and finish with four for 22.
Kenn wobbled at first – Kevin Hughes and Pat Boot went cheaply – but Gosling and Lyle Muir (18) broke the back of the chase with a stand of 68.
