SEATON maintained their position at the top of C Division East with a 30-run win at Feniton.

Feniton must have fancied their chance of causing an upset after dismissing Seaton for 131 -  Charlie Selley taking four for 23 and Jon French 3-20.

Seaton, parading new signing Brian Cann against one of his former clubs, were glad of Joel Seward (25), Sam Goodier (23) and skipper Ben Morgan (27) for getting them to 131.

Selley and French cashed in at the end when Seaton lost their last six wickets for just 28 runs.

Feniton found runs no easier to come by with Rob Prior (4-16) posing early problems.

Graham Tucker (20) and Selley (27) moved the score along in the middle, but when Selly went to Tim Mitchell (3-30) the rot set in.

Prior returned and Feniton lost five for 24 on the way to 101 all out.

Uplyme sit second in the table thanks to a six-wicket run-rate win at Axminster.

Solid batting at the top from Mike Wakley (47), Simon Steer (22) and Sam Farrow (21) got Axminster up to 104 for three

Skipper Paul Miller (35) got most of the rest in a 45-over tally of 184 for eight.

James Whetlor (3-30) took the bowling honours for Uplyme.

Laurie Thomas (46) and Mark Brimacombe (31) got Uplyme on their way before the rain came.

Mike Van den Berg (31no) and Tyler Wellman (35no) saw Uplyme over the line after the target came down to 176 in 42 overs.

Countess Wear’s winning run continued with a four-wicket victory over Kilmington that lifts them to fifth in the table.

The Goodngs – Tom (56) and Ian (25) gave Kilmington an 84-run start before wickets started falling to Kav Dias (4-32) and Steve Holland (3-33).

Kilmington were rescued from an unimpressive 117 for eight to 195 all out by tail-enders Dan Fuzzard (19), Ben Lucas (17no) and in particular last man Craig Seward (35) got the score up to something defendable.

Wear got the runs with more than three overs to spare on the back of a match-winning knock of 89 from James Bogue.

Bogue and Mark Davey (31) took Wear to 147 for three on the chase with Bogue finally out with six needed to win.

Filleigh are down in the C East bottom two following a five-wicket defeat at Clyst Hydon.

Harley Ashdown made the top score of 44 for Filleigh in their total of 154 all out.

Ashdown’s fifth-wicket stand of 50 with Simon Prideaux (31) was as good as it got for Filleigh.

Adrian Pullin (4-28) clattered through the Filleigh middle order – four wickets went for one run  - and Jacob Dienes (2-15) killed off the tail after brief resistance from James Campbell (14).

Pullin’s early departure to Campbell (2-29) was the only real blip on the Cully chase.

Jason Parr (32) and skipper James Blacknmore (48no)  knocked off 48 , leaving Brendon Parr (20) and Jack Grandfield (17) to take Cully to victory with their captain.

Barnstaple & Pilton are still bottom in the C Division West despite beating visiting Clyst Hydon by 22 runs in a 37-over game.

Brady Saunders (37) and Lee Cole (28) negotiated the twin threats of Zain Ul-Abiddin (3-19) and Dhanuja Haturusingha (4-21) to make 141 for eight.

Clyst Hydon couldn’t construct a stand of more than 26 and that was their downfall.

When Haturusingha (28) fell at 82 for six the end wasn’t far away.

George McEndoo (5-25) spun his way through the bottom half of the order as Hydon were bowled out for 119.
