2008 Champions - The East
Rain concluded the West v East game after the West had posted 142. The Easts Jodie Dibble had bowled a great line and length early on to restrict the West taking two early wickets.
Mike Cousens and Josh Mailing had a great stand of 54 for the third wicket to put the home side back in the driving seat. After Mailing was out Cousens and Davies put on 23 before Davies was run out with the score on 91. |

| When East played South, Easts Rebecca Bertrand (16) and Charlie Watson (29) opened up with a controlled 52 partnership. Then Theo Miller (51) and Jack Dart (45) did some robust hitting to consolidate the good start made by the openers. A cameo innings by Henry Hoult (15) took the total to 217 for 7 after 44 overs. There were 35 wides. For the South G Haslam took 3 for 46 and W Coon 8 overs 1 for 26. The South started well with the openers putting on 23, G Paxman (10) and J Tolley (8). The Easts four spinners (B Hancock 3 - 7, Dylan Penberthy 3 - 6, Gary Abdoll 2 - 1, Sam Loud 1 - 1) took 9 wickets for 17 runs and shot the South out for 43. |

Bank Holiday Monday lived up to its reputation as rain ruined the South/North clash. The North batted first and after twentyseven and a half overs, when the rain came, were on the back foot being 73-8. Heard scored 25 and with Kelly (15) put on 47 for the second wicket. Durman taking 3-3 off two overs assisted a collapse from 61-1 to 73-8.
The East v North game was a close encounter with the latter winning the toss and batting on the good batting track at Blundells. Good batting by L May (41) and P Heard (26) took the score to 100. There was consistent middle order batting from J Popham (35) and M Newton (19), which took the total to 192. T Woofenden bowled well (3 for 13) and Will Browne (0 for 27 off 8). Good off spin from Ben Hancock (2 for 25 off 8).
It was a total that East could have achieved, and they needed a good start. Unfortunately, they found themselves 76 for 6, none of the first 6 batsmen achieving double figures. Henry Hoult (42) went in number 7 and made a good attempt at turning the match around with Matt Handford (18). Ollie Hensberg (28) went in at number 10 and immediately looked as if he was intending to win the match for East Devon but got caught behind with just 8 more runs needed. East finished (with the assistance of 75 extras) on 185. It was a disappointing finish for East Devon, whose batting and fielding were below par. |
