About the East Devon Youth Cricket League and its Sponsors

Formed in 1991 by a handful of clubs, the East Devon Youth Cricket League has grown to an amazing 96 teams representing 26 clubs for the 2008 season, continuing the pattern of year on year growth. Leagues are run at under-11, u12, u13, u14, u15 and u17. There are also 8-a-side pairs leagues at u10 and u11, and cup competitions for all age groups. Girls can play 2 years over-age, e.g. under-15 girls can play in the under-13 league.

Matches are played to a 20-over format designed to dovetail into the adult cricket fixture lists of the member clubs whilst providing both enjoyable sport and preparation for higher levels of the game. Most games take place on Sunday mornings or weekday evenings.

The geographical area covered by the league extends from Axminster in the East to Sandford in the West, and from Heathcoat (Knightshayes, nr Tiverton) in the North, to the South coast.

The 2007 league winners were Woodbury (under-10 pairs), Exeter (under-11 pairs), Thorverton (under-11), Exeter St James (under-12), Sidmouth (under-13), Whimple (under-14) and Culmstock (under-15 and under-17).

Bradleys – sponsors of our league competitions

Since 1998 we have enjoyed the sponsorship of Bradley's, the West Country estate agency with many offices in our region. Visit their website by clicking on the Bradley's logo at the top of the home page.
When Bradleys started sponsoring the EDYCL the office network and the league participants were geographically an excellent match. The offices in Exmouth, Exeter, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Ottery St Mary and Honiton were all close to prominent cricket clubs with thriving youth sections. In addition there were many villages in the locality with a very active youth section such as Sandford, Feniton, Upottery, Culmstock, Whimple and Clyst Hydon.
Bradleys are delighted that their partnership with the EDYCL has flourished and look forward to many further years supporting youth cricket in the area. Bradleys Director Mike Dibble, himself a keen cricketer and Cricket Secretary at Sidmouth CC, commented on the number of EDYCL players who go on to represent Devon. 'A large number of EDYCL players have played for Devon Youth teams and then gone on to play for the full County side. This must give all the volunteers who run local cricket a huge sense of pride. It is just reward for all their many hours of hard work.'
Somerset County Sports – sponsors of our cup competitions
The EDYCL is delighted to welcome Somerset County Sports as the new sponsor of our cup competitions for the 2008 season. SCS are well known as one of the leading cricket clothing and equipment suppliers in the South West and their support for the cup competitions in the EDYCL has been enthusiastically welcomed by the league's management team.
Proprietor Richard Brice expressed his delight at the sponsorship deal adding "Its good news for everyone concerned and for SCS it is a great opportunity to put something back into the cricket community and not just in Somerset. The EDYCL   is one of the largest youth cricket leagues in the UK and we at SCS are very happy to be able to help and be a part of it".
As part of SCS's input, the company plans to introduce a number of mobile cricket shows around the E Devon region which will be showing many of the top brands of clothing and equipment and at very competitive prices. The first of these shows will be held at Honiton Cricket Club on Monday the 19th of May which will be open all day and is set to run alongside the 6-a-side festival being held by Honiton CC on the same day as part of the Marcus Trescothick benefit year for 2008.

Somerset County Sports also plan to hold a number of their mobile cricket shows at various different clubs within the E Devon region and talks with clubs are already under way. If you or your club are interested in having the SCS mobile cricket show at your ground then please call the manager Kevin Sedgbeer at SCS head office on 01823 337597 and he will be very happy to discuss any ideas and plans you might have.

The company is based at the home of Somerset County Cricket Club which is at the County Ground, Taunton, Somerset TA1 1JT...please give them a call or pay a visit to the store where all players, members, coaches and managers of the EDYCL will be made very welcome. In the meantime everyone at SCS would like to wish all the players participating in
