B Division Briefing – week 11
Stoke Gabriel (8th) v Ipplepen (5th)
Stoke Gabriel (Jack Tolley): Closest we have been to a full-strength side. Dan Bullock is still nursing an ankle injury. Mike Smith and Mike Meech return to the side. Taking it game by game, but looking play positive cricket for the rest of the summer.
Ipplepen (Matt Beasant): Stoke have been a bit of a bogey team for us over the last couple of years, but we are looking forward to it. Availability is good, Sam Hennessy comes in off the back of a 40 and an 80 in the 2nd XI. Really excited to see what he can bring to our middle order. Sam Wakeham and Henry Alsop very unfortunate to miss out, but will have big roles to play for us in the second half of the season.
Budleigh Salterton (2nd) v Plymstock (top)
Budleigh (Ed Doble): Looking to bounce back after last weekend. I come back in as well as second-team captain Harvey Shipton.
Plymstock (Tom Mitch): Josh Sumner, Mike Blackmore, Robbie Cunningham and Billy Gibson come back into the side. New ‘Pony’ Charlie Bligh (middle-order batter) makes his first-team debut. Expecting another close game against Budleigh. The boys are full of confidence and looking forward to it.
Clyst St George v Ivybridge
Clyst St George (Dan Kendall): Looking forward to getting back to it after missing out last week with the weather. Steve Bourke comes in and Thom Bunker returns after a few weeks away.
Ivybridge (Josh Zimmerman): Arthur Johnson back from injury. He comes in for myself. We're looking for more consistency and can hopefully put back-to-back wins for the first time this year. It was a really close game first time around Harry Solomon captains the side.
Abbotskerswell (10th) v Bideford (7th)
Abbotskerswell (Toby Codd): Richard Harmer and Andy Felton come in for us. Both have contributed previously and hopefully can give us a bit extra to get over the line this week. Games are quickly going by now and the bottom line is we need at least three or four wins from the last eight to survive. I don't think Bideford's league position necessarily reflects how good they are. Having played everyone once, I still think they're one of the best teams in the league on paper.
Bideford (Jack Ford): Alex Hannam and Steve Bond back into the side. Great start to the second half beating Budleigh last week. Looking to build some momentum and string a few results together.
Bovey Tracey II (9th) v Braunton (6th)
Bovey Tracey: Tom Andrew goes back up to the first team. George and Harry Pitman, along with Brad ‘the run machine’ Causey all return to the 2nd XI. We know where our issues are and what needs to be changed before it is too late.
Braunton (Sam Reddick): James Lake is back for us, as is Jason Raynor. Excited to play Bovey after such a tight game in week two. Jon Baglow remains injured, so Andrew Paddison stays with us. Frustrated to get rained off last week when hardly anyone else was! We need to string some wins together to avoid the scrap at the bottom come the end of the season. We need to play to our full potential from here on.
