Barton CC Receive DCL Grant for Youth Development

Barton CC receive Tolchards Devon Cricket League Discretionary Development Grant for youth development.
Over the last three years, Barton CC have recognised that junior cricket is fundamental to the sustainability and future success of the club.
For this reason, the club have made the decision to invest in their junior section by funding coaching courses to make sure they have the capacity to deliver safe and effective cricket coaching at Barton.
The club have used social media as well as traditional word of mouth to help deliver the message that 'cricket is for all at Barton CC'. This is particularly poignant as Barton is located within an area of Torbay with high levels of comorbidity and social deprivation.
Barton CC's junior section has now grown from 16 children to over 110 children playing cricket. The club believe they are now the only club within Torbay to offer competitive softball cricket for Under 8 and Under 9 players, as well as separate Under 10, Under 11, Under 12, Under 13, Under 14, Under 15 and Under 17 hardball sides.
The club have also reestablished the Barton Belles women's team, who now play regular friendly and league softball games, as well as being a Disability Champion Club hosting regular Monday night cricket sessions.
The Tolchards Devon Cricket League have helped support purchasing a large number of spring-back stumps to help deliver fun, safe, and high-quality coaching sessions for all groups. This purchase has meant that coaches can deliver specific skill zone training sessions to the club's group training on a Friday night.
"We are truly grateful for the League’s continued support of grassroots cricket and for investing in the future of our young cricketers."
