Ton-up Medlock (pictured) leads Paignton to victory over Exmouth | 'Luke and Aya were exceptional in a brilliant chase and set it up beautifully' – Harry Ward

Luke Medlock – took a ton of Exmouth on the Maer

PAIGNTON snatched Exmouth’s unbeaten record in the Premier Division when they defeated them by four wickets in a run-feast on the Maer ground.

Cameron Kidd (pictured) belted 113, and skipper Fin Marks made 84, as Exmouth totted-up 279 for eight in their 50 overs.

Exmouth were 12 for three when Marks went out to join Kidd – and 207 for four when Aya Gyamana (4-44) split them up

Luke Medlock stroked an unbeaten 112 in reply, and Gyamana made another 84, as unbeaten Paignton won it with nine balls to spare.

Paignton were nine for two when Gyamana met-up in the middle with Medlock – George Greenway the wicket taker – and 177 for three when Lawrence Greenway separated them.

Medlock put on another 106 with the middle order to win it.

Said Marks: “Sadly, we were on the wrong side of a very good game.

“Cam batted beautifully but we were probably 20-30 short with the bat.

‘We bowled to many extras and Gyamana controlled Paignton’s chase, which allowed Luke to score a very good ton batting around him.”

Harry Ward, the Paignton captain, said: “To keep Exmouth below 300 on such a flat wicket, and with a lightning-fast outfield, was a fantastic effort from our bowlers.

“Cameron and Fin batted really well for Exmouth and we responded superbly with the bat.

“Luke and Aya were exceptional in a brilliant chase and set it up beautifully. Both showed real class. Luke’s innings was outstanding!”
