In-form Elstone (pictured) adds another century to his Premier Division century | North Devon still looking for first league win

SIDMOUTH opener Sam Elstone compiled a Premier Division century for the second game running in the 37-run win over lowly North Devon.
Elstone followed his 142 in the win over Heathcoat with 109 more towards a total of 307 for seven
Dylan Rawal scored 42 of the first 52 on the board, which was followed by a second-wicket pairing worth 122 between Elstone and Charlie Gaywood (44).
There was a brief slowdown while North Devon’s James Tyson (3-75) got into the Sidmouth middle order, but Elstone found a new running mate in Taylor Ingham-Hill (34) to reach 242 for five.
Getting Elstone out did little to slow the Sidmouth scoring as Matt Matravers (26) and Ben Way (24no) found a few more balls to hit.
North Devon made a decent effort to chase down the runs. Despite losing overseas ace Roshan Lakmal cheaply, they got to 176 for four at the halfway stage. Fred King had been and gone for 53 by then.
Dan Bowser (61) kept one end ticking along into the last 15 overs, but runs at the other were in short supply.
Bits and pieces were not enough – Jack Popham (20) the best of them – and despite a whopping 52 extras North Devon finished well adrift on 270 all out.
There were three wickets each for Sidmouth bowlers Ben Way (3-72) and E J Cunningham (3-38).
Elstone, who skippered the side in the absence of Luke Bess, played down his own contribution during his summing up.
“Dylan Rawal got us off to a flyer, continuing his good form, a gritty knock from Charlie Gaywood, and some good hitting at the end from Ingham-Hill, Matravers and Way got us to a well-made 307,” said Elstone.
“North Devon came out aggressively and, thanks to a few dropped catches, found themselves 129 for two after 19 overs.
“Wickets fell consistently from that point onwards with Cunningham and Horsefield the pick of our bowlers.”
