Roux century not enough to earn Torquay & Kingskerswell victory at Kilmington | 'By keeping them to 242 I thought we could chase that down as we bat deep' – Kilmington's Oli Reed

TORQUAY & Kingskerswell are still living dangerously at the wrong end of the A Division table following a four-wicket reversal at Kilmington.
Nathan Roux batted through for an unbeaten 136 – his third league ton in the last four games – to help Torquay & Kingskerswell reach 241 for six.
Roux had a helping hand along the way from Chris Kelmere, who made 56 during a fourth-wicket stand of 107.
Oli Reed (2-60) was the lone Kilmington bowler to take more than one wicket. Rob Crabb (1-32) was the most economical of the 10-over bowlers.
Kilmington’s run chase wasn’t without its challenges. They were 130 for six at one stage with Tom Gooding (46), Josh Cann (26) and Dan Trott (22) among the departed.
Reed (74no) and Tom Olive (47no) saw off the threat from T&K’s spin attack to guide Kilmington over the line with an unbroken stand of 114.
Beau Rider, who took two wickets in two balls collecting three for 32 in four overs. The two Harrys – Passenger and Baxendale – were hard to get away.
Three games without a win, and just 21 points from 60 up for grabs, have left Torquay & Kingskerswell 18 points above second-bottom Plympton.
The two sides meet on the Recreation Ground this Saturday in a game T&K have to win to avoid a survival scrap in the embers of the season.
Reed, the Kilmington captain, said he was always confident of knocking off the runs.
“It was tough to restrict Roux, who showed his class, but by keeping them to 242 I thought we could chase that down as we bat deep – and we showed exactly that.
“It's just what we needed to take the pressure off going into the final three games.
“Still a few points to pick-up, but the lads can now play with a bit of freedom and enjoy their cricket.”
