DEVON CCC’s weather woes have taken a turn for the worse with yet another fixture switch,

Both Devon’s warm-up games – Sidmouth at Sidmouth tomorrow (Sunday, April 14) and Somerset 2nd XI at Exeter (April 21) – were called off in advance due to ground preparation issues. Next Sunday’s (April 21) Lions Development XI match against the University of Exeter at Seaton has already been called off.

Now Devon officials have been told by their Cornwall counterparts that the Twenty20 double date due to be played at Werrington on April 28 is on the move.

“I have had communication from Cornwall that Werrington will not be fit for the match on April 28,” said Neil Gamble, the Devon CCC chairman.

“The only area of the Duchy that has avoided the amount of rain experienced elsewhere in the South West is the coastal strip around the Penzance area.

“The game has been switched to St Just CC.”

The lack of match practice is a concern for Dave Tall, Devon CCC’s director of cricket, which he has addressed by arranging extra indoor training sessions for the squad.

Tall has booked time tomorrow (Sunday) at the Buzz About Cricket cricket school near Cullompton for a squad session.
